Let me start with a simple ground rule in life … saying “YES” to the dress is not only for brides, okay people?!
For a girl who has a hard enough time deciding what she’s wearing on a daily basis, throw in a special occasion and queue the unnecessary stress … This is Me: a Memoir.
The Specifics:
Special Occasion - A sunny California outdoor wedding
Unnecessary Stress - Saying “YES” to the perfect guest dress
Background:
I love traveling. Plain and simple, I love everything about it: airports, hotels, destination-based wardrobe choices, new experiences and so on. However, that’s not to say that the days (or weeks) leading up to my departure are stress-free. No way José! Due to my aggressively organized nature, I seem to take days to make lists of lists of things I need to accomplish before embarking on my voyage and feel that I need absolute perfection upon execution.
So, let me paint a picture for you...
One of my best friends from college, Pat, is getting married to his beautiful lady in sunny Cali-forn-i-a August 2018! His wedding will take place at a gorgeous outdoor venue; therefore, I must find an appropriately themed getup!
Simple you say? … HA!
The Process:
Knowing nothing I do in life is simple, I allot myself ample time to piece together my ideal look.
Thus, I begin my search, directing my attention towards my trusted friend … Revolve.
*Fellow shopaholics know it to be the mecca of all things holy in the fashion ecommerce world. So clearly, a no-brainer!*
I’m a tried-and-true bodycon lover. There’s something so killer about a tight, midi dress that hugs ya in close. So naturally, I start there.
But after some deliberation on that image and the scenery for this wedding, I digress and navigate in a different direction. Light, airy and dainty are all words that come to mind. However, I don’t want to lose all edginess in searching for a look that falls within the realm of those adjectives.
Skimming through endless dresses, pant suits, and rompers ... I start to feel an overwhelming sense of defeat veil overtop of me. No stress though, this is a feeling I know far too well. So I trudge on, scheming up completely different ideas to see where that takes me.
*Something along the lines of, “Can I somehow drape a sheet around me for a bohemian Medusa-y vibe?” … I mean what the heck is wrong with me?!*
Fast-forward to the week before the wedding. I’ve filled endless virtual carts and “favorited” an ungodly amount of clothes for every occasion but a wedding. WHY DO I DO THIS TO MYSELF?!
However, tucked in with all the frivolous mayhem, I remember something I “favorited” long ago. I skim my Revolve history and there lays what I think to be the apple of my eye. Or in this case, the lemon. A vibrantly feminine dress that I think might be just perfect! With no choice at this point, I go for it.
A few short days after purchasing, my lemon has arrived! Obviously, I stop everything I’m doing to try it on. AHHH!!! Perfection … and thank goodness because we leave in 24 hours.
Day of the Wedding:
The day has finally come that Pat becomes a husband!
Four o’clock rolls around and here I am slipping into my lemon, lacing up my gold, strappy heels and gently situating my midi rings and charm hoop earrings. Before we know it, it’s time to jet to the big event!
We find ourselves at this insanely beautiful location called Hummingbird Nest Ranch. I mean, holy s**t it’s unreal! The mountains, greenery, beautiful stone facades, a pond christened with string lights … the list goes on and on. The evening was spent celebrating love and happiness with good people and way too much fun! Seeing one of your best friends marry the love of his life is a pretty surreal experience. Safe to say I’m still on a high from it all!!!
*Below the picture you can find details about the dress.

Dress: Privacy Please Aurora Gown from Revolve ($179 was $298).
*I wore a size Small. However, if I had more time, I would have reordered for a size XS.
