The purpose of this post is to evaluate public data that gives information regarding social media’s presence in the fashion industry. Being that my topic is fairly broad, I searched for credible information that would aid my final presentation. On SBA.gov, I found an article that provided data on “Which Industries are Using Social Media; And Which Social Media Do They Use?”
While searching for this article, I went through USA.gov and initially typed in “fashion industry” in the search bar. With minimal luck, I expanded my search to “fashion industry and social media.” This time, the first link that I saw was the one I chose to use.
In a recent report by Hubspot examining thirty-three different businesses, SBA blogger deciphers what social media sites these companies owed their loyalty to. The results insisted that different types of work called for different preferred media forums. As for the fashion industry, blogs took first place.
When the information was broken down further into just social media platforms, the results varied again. Hubspot polled the companies about their four largest social media sites: Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and YouTube. The result for the fashion industry reported that Twitter was their social media powerhouse.
The credibility of the article I used seems valid due to the website’s affiliation with the government. Also, the information is referenced directly to another website and gives the date created with an author’s username. To make this a more credible source, more than one author’s thoughts could have been included. Overall, I found this to be valuable information that deepens my knowledge regarding my topic and provided me with the question of why these sites ranked number one for the fashion industry.
