Fashion Fights Poverty (FFP) is a nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., that brings attention to creative and successful ambitions that can aid those facing poverty. Also, FFP recognizes designers who advocate fair trade and consumers who practice responsible spending.

Sponsors range from financial donors and designers to volunteers and media professionals such as: Artisphere, Van Ness Feldman, Sin and Svelte. In 2009, FFP’s total revenue was $41,689.42, with the largest portion coming from donations and grants ($18,600.00). For the same year, the organization’s events ($23,089.42), professional costs ($33,822.42), publicity ($5,182.03) and tenancy ($3,138.00) accounted for $65,231.87. FFP has a staff and board of directors comprised of ten individuals but no information regarding their yearly salaries was available.

Michael Dumlao (Chief Creative Officer), Sylvie Luanghy (Vice President of Corporate Relations) and Kadrieka Maiden (Vice President of Communications) all hold the highest positions along with the title of “Co-founder.” The information I came across seemed credible, especially the Form 990. However, FFP uses their website to get their message across, so there is a chance biased information could be provided concerning the success of their mission. This organization pertains to my topic because it uses social media websites and a social media feed to promote their actions. That being said, one can follow FFP on Twitter, Facebook, or reach them at (571) 969-3121.
